"What is the role of the architect as a visionary; can the architect (or should the architect) assume the position of social or urban orchestrator? Can architecture’s presence in a technocracy promote a vision outside of its intentions?" - Professor Paul Robinson
The thirty-second Piran Days of Architecture international conference will take place on November 22, organized around the central theme of Vision. The conference will explore a contemporary methodology for interpreting the myriad facets of an architect's vision in the context of "increasing technological, sociopolitical, sociocultural and environmental demands."
Featuring seven lectures, the ten speakers come from a diverse set of firms including Bernardo Bader Architekten of Austria, Jereb Budja arhitekti of Slovenia, Studio UP of Croatia, RCJV Arquitectos of Portugal, studio mk27 of Brazil, FRANTZEN et al architecten of the Netherlands, and Office dA from the USA. The conference will last from 10 am to 8 pm in the Monfort exhibition hall of the Gledalisce Tartini (Tartini Theatre) in Piran. With the conclusion of the conference, the conferring of the 2014 Piranesi Awards will begin at 8 pm, concordantly with the opening of six architectural exhibitions. All but one exhibition will remain open until December 14. Learn more about the event, here.
